Hi
there! My name is Brad and this site is a record of my burgeoning interest in
the hobby of boat building. It contains pictures of the boat projects I've attempted
so far and some speculations on what I would like to attempt in the future.
Also included is a little link farm to some boat related sites that I like.
If you remotely enjoy this site, please send me an email as my ego is desperately
fragile and I need the boost. Email
me even if you hate it!
I started work on my first boat, "Fanny," in January, 1998.
Since then I've annoyed my wife and family, as well as everyone I know, with
discussions of my latest passion. I have been know to wax rhapsodic for hours
on the virtues of such and such a brand of enamel, the smell of fresh cut wood,
the joy of launching a boat I built or any other issue related to the world
of boat building.
My
wife and neighbors think I'm mad as I tend to begin projects at times of incredible
stress. For example, I started my sailboat ("Mr. Bigglesworth") when I was studying/working
about 70 hours a week at the University of Alberta. I explained that the boat
building was a necessary stress relief therapy for the busy time I was enduring.
The truth is, of course, that I'm a deviously efficient procrastinator who will
find all sorts of interesting ways to avoid what I should be doing in favor
of things that look like work but are actually fun; for example, the construction
of this website.
