1966 CHEVELLE MALIBU
| March

This car was originally made and sold in California. The car was brought up to Vancouver in 1989, and bought by my late brother Mario. The car was rust free, and had very minor dents. His first intentions was to strip off all the chrome moldings and get it painted. Well, one thing led to another and 2 days later, we had the car totally dismantled. the body then was sent to Redi-Strip to get dipped. In the meantime he sandblasted and painted the frame and rebuilt the motor. Now here's were all the trouble begins, the car went from bodyshop to bodyshop, because the shops said they would do the work, then just stuffed it in a corner of the shop. Finally after 4 years, and nothing being done with the car, we took it out and brought the car home. During the time in the shops, the only thing done to it was, it was primered/painted to prevent the bare metal from rusting. In the summer of 1996 we started to work on the Chevelle, the first thing done was to remove all the paint from under the body. Once that was done, I applied DP epoxy primer, and seam sealed all the joints and sprayed the underbody in 66 Regal Red.(original color was Lemonwood Yellow). The body was then set back onto the frame. In Sept. of 1996 my brother Mario past away in a car accident, and the Chevelle has not been worked on since.... |
