O Martyrs of Iran
The scene begins, they're closing in. What happened to the thought of Him,
So Merciful, so Kind and Pure! Now only hatred does endure.
They cover you in kerosene. They light the match, their faces beam.
It's paradise they think they've won. They throw their dirt up at the sun.
~
Chorus: O martyrs of Iran! We hear you calling!
O martyrs of Iran! We're now arising in your name!
All for the lovers, all for the heroes, all for Baha'u'llah!
2.
The tragic news was just received. Nine more Baha'is were just deceived
And executed in Tihran, charged so falsely once again.
Grieved announce some more Baha'is have given up their active lives.
The threats they grow, intensify. With savage attacks they terrorize.
~
Bridge: It can't go on much longer, cause God is looking after you!
Soon the injustice will be over, and victory will come to you! Victory will come to you!
All for the lovers, all for the heroes, all for Baha'u'llah!
3.
The new arrests remain unchecked. You flee your homes, no refuge left.
They've taken all you own, in theft. Authorities remain quite deaf.
The mobs sound out their viciousness. Remember what their fathers said.
"To execute a true Baha'i is the glory of all paradise."
4.
Your teen-age daughters they do steel, and marry them with bonds unreal.
They force on them a fate they've sealed, and care not what you parents feel.
Your pure, tender daughters they've concealed. Their cruel acts they'll not reveal.
Your loved ones cry out to be healed. Remember them as did Nabil.
5.
O what a sad and horrid thing, to see their acts of ignorance,
Fanaticism so deep ingrained, perverting every Holy Name.
You've ascended to the Realms above. You've now become the Force, called Love.
And guiding us, you're now part of a greater scheme to change the hearts.
6.
The revolutionary guards converge on you in the cold and dark.
They abuse you with sadistic hearts. They aim to tear your life apart.
Interrogations then take place. They blindfold you, they hide their face.
Their evil lurks with every taste. They heap on you their own disgrace.
7.
They confine you in a six foot cell. They seal you in, so what the hell.
To be alone for months in jail can be better than this material world.
They lay you on a table hard. They tie you down, no passions barred.
And whip your feet till they're assured there's no more pain to be explored.
8.
Your mind and body are put to waste by torture-mongers, obscured in space.
They'll try to break your will, your faith, to secure confessions, to prove their case.
From every side you receive the blows. They charge your spirit, ignite your soul.
You believe in God, you let them know Baha'u'llah is your Strength, your Goal.
9.
They call you a traitor, an agent, spy. They spread that news to promote the lie.
They say you should have never tried to unite the world with the Faith Baha'i.
The cries and moans of the tortured ones break out from prison like rays of sun
And set ablaze the hearts of men. God's angels, then, will inspire them.
10.
O martyrs of Tihran, Shiraz. Please help us all to teach the Cause,
To win the most greatest victories, to guide the masses befittingly.
O faithful heroes of Khurasan. Please magnify God's Holy Name.
Upraise the banner, and glory in the spreading of His Great Kingdom.
11.
O splendid martyrs of Hamadan. Please teach us with a breath of spring
And rejuvenate all created things, and give us dreams, inspiring.
O gentle women of Shiraz. Illuminate our minds with Love.
Endeavor to spread God's Holy Laws, O gleaming, radiant martyrs of Yazd.
12.
O valiant martyrs of Iran. Please help us and assist us then
To raise a song of peace again, till all the world become dear friends.
O we can use your courage now. O give us all your strength somehow.
A brave success, to us endow. O let the Word of God ring out!
13.
Maybe we are feeble, poor. That just means we need you more.
It's victory we're longing for. Please open up that treasured door!
O martyrs, I do love you so! Please teach us all our hearts can know.
Maybe then our lives will show the power, the vision, tenacious souls!
14.
O fearless martyrs of Qasvin. Fulfill our hopes and our highest dreams!
O audacious martyrs of Darun. Please cause the rose of love to bloom!
O peerless martyrs, please heed our call. We want to sacrifice our all,
So the Cause of God will be triumphant. Your being there is really something!
