From the desk of the MFOA ASSIGNOR

I would like to acknowledge my web site constructor, a long time friend of mine named Sandy Watson. Sandy is retired from the City of Winnipeg and now into his second career of fixing computers and setting up web sites. He works at home and he can be reached at acwatson@shaw.ca . If you need a computer, some repairs or a virus check contact him. If you contact him, mention my name. He is good and he will give you "Bobs" discount.

The following notations and comments are intended for the information of MFOA members only, and the views and comments are those of the author, not the MFOA.

QUIZ #2 will be posted this weekend

In the meantime, for your amusement ...

What's the fastest way to get off an Italian cruise ship?   -  Follow the captain

When the captain of the ill fated Costa Concordia was asked if he knew where he was going he replied "off course."

So the captain of the Costa Concordia will soon be in the dock.   That's more than can be said for his ship.

I like my women how I like my Italian Cruises.    Wet, wrecked and ready to go down.

The Costa Concordia is probably the most expensive thing to go down in Italy since Berlusconi's last hooker.

What's the difference between the Italian economy and the stricken cruise liner Costa Concordia?

Nothing - the bottoms dropped out of both.

and the winner is ...

 # How do they serve alcoholic drinks on Italian cruise ships?   - On the rocks

Pre Season Exam Preparation  (welcome to the start of the 2012 season)

During the 1st week of January, February, and March I will post a number of rules or mechanics questions. Take a moment to open the link and look at the 1st 15 questions. It should get your mind thinking football a little earlier than normal. Season starts in 4 months.

I suspect Ron may even use some for the annual exam.

More Useless Trivia (game fees for 1996, 2000 and 2002) (found while doing year end cleaning).

Rural PeeWee and Bantam Special Rules

Tip of the Week       (will resume in the spring)

MFOA Executive Meeting Attendance List (2012) (updated 1/9)

(The above links show the attendance records for Executive members to the monthly Executive meetings)

Mentorship Program                                    (A guideline of what is expected from a MFOA Mentor)

Game Day Observer Program              (A brief history and guideline for the Observers)

Time Line Management Report       (Updated 5/24 - A fluid  month by month guide of Executive duties and responsibilities).

The following are tid bits of information members for the benefit of keeping members of the MFOA updated with what is going on in our organization. I have attempted to ensure they are as accurate as possible.

Feb 1 - Congratulations to Adam Paradowski who has been selected to work games this season in the CFL as an Umpire. I understand possibly a second MFOA member will be given a few CFL games as well this season. More on that when I can confirm it.

Jan 9 - Tonight we combined the monthly Executive meeting with the annual Presidents dinner. The event occured at DJ's restaurant way out Portage Avenue at Rouge Rd. The restaurant is surrounded by large rocks (wierd).

Of interest at the meeting was the following:

1) Mikiluk will look into obtaining t shirts and or golf shirts for members. Instead of buying a bunch and having stock, members must pre order. I anticipate members may be able to defer payment to their year end where the cost will then be deducted.

2) At a recent meeting a name of a long retired official was put forward to the Executive for consideration as a life member. The request was not successful so the decision was appealled. At tonights meeting the Executive voted to allow the appeal and a committee was struck with Ron as the chair. His committee will review the previous decision and decide if the retired members name should go before the members at the AGM. The decision of the committee is binding and final.

3) Mike will be looking into the kickoff night which will be held in May this year and possibly combining it with a mandatory clinic.

Lots more was discussed but these are the issues that I recall at this late hour.

Jan 1 - The High School League has asked the Executive if the MFOA would still officiate their games if they were not associated with Football Manitoba (don't get hung up on why they don't want to be associated, that is not our concern).

Be proud of the MFOA, you are what makes us great
