The easiest set up for cutting up the segments is by the use of a jig on the table saw. The one is styled after the idea from Kevin Neelley on his webste.

You could do the same task with a miter saw but I found holding small parts to be dangerous and challenging. I added a De Staco clamp to mine to increase accuracy and stabilize the parts during cutting
Adjusting the angle allows for multi sided rings.
Often patterns cal lfor 4,8,12,16, 24 or 32 segments in a ring.
