Jordan is a friend
of mine from Saskatoon and has just released his latest cd. I have
put this page up for those who visit my site because this cd has really
impressed me. I have been listening to it for about a week now and
it just gets better as I listen to it.
I have known
Jordan since he was about 10 . He is a natural showman. Great guitarist,
solid mature voice, great song writing and excellent band behind him.
Here are some of the reviews
etc on the net ......
Just to give you
a bit of background on this young musician, he has been performing since
he was about 8. By the time he was 15; he shared the main stage with B.B.
King at the 1999 Montreux Jazz Festival in
Switzerland.
He and his young band
were invited to perform in the Jazz Café with the possibility
that he might be invited to guest performing in one or two headline shows
on the main stage. He got to play
with some absolute greats
including Van Morrison,
Edgar
Winter, B.B. King, and blew away the promoters
and audiences. The Jordan Cook Band, comprised of Cook, bass guitarist
S.J. Kardash and drummer Danny White, was named "the revelation band''
of the festival and held over to headline his own night. Organizers
scrambled to print posters trumpeting the presence of a striking new talent.
The band's European debut
at Montreux was scheduled to last eight days, but with extra club dates
and appearances it stretched to two weeks. It could have gone on for months
had the boys been able to accept blues artist
Gary Moore's invitation to join him on what
became a sold-out tour of the continent. But school and other responsibilities
had to be given priority.
Meeting and playing with
people like King, Moore, Taj Mahal,
Rick
Derringer and Edgar
Winter was a huge thrill, Cook said in an
interview at his Saskatoon home. He was amazed to hear that, two months
after Montreux, Winter told the widely-syndicated American radio program
Rockline that Cook was his favorite guitar player.
Rock and Roll royalty
Gary Moore, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer and the late Jeff
Healey went on record suggesting that Jordan
Cook may be the finest player in the world. MacLean’s Magazine named Jordan
Cook in the “100 Canadians to Watch” issue (he was the youngest profiled).
At sixteen he performed as a guest to Tony D at the Ottawa Blues Festival.
Here he had one song to win an audience and by its end 8,000 fans were
screaming on their feet. The following year Jordan brought his own act
to the Ottawa stage opening for Canada’s Tragically Hip. This is where
he received to encores before the Hip even hit stage. In 2006 Jordan Cook
was the first Canadian Rock artist to tour all across China.
Before returning home
he hooked up with song writing production team “The Matrix” in Los Angeles,
there Jordan was featured on a documentary with the Matrix’s (Korn, Avril
Lavigne) stating he is the most talented artist they’ve worked with.
....... .......
From the first Canadian
rock artist to tour across China, to being declared "the revelation" of
Switzerland’s Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jordan Cook has mesmerized audiences
around the world. Legendary artists such as B.B King, Van Morrison, Edgar
Winter, Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), and the Aretha Franklin Band have described
his performance as iconic. As first mentioned by Jeff Healey "Jordan Cook
is the best guitar player in the world today!" One wonders if he had been
born with pick in hand.
"Today’s music industry
is missing the feeling" says, Cook. His live performance vividly puts his
word into action. Cook’s vision was to bring ’the feeling’ into a record,
and now he presents his new album "SEVEN DEADLY SINS" .

The album has been in
the works for nearly seven years including a host of great producers and
artists. From the addition of raw bass tones of Ben Shepherd (Soundgarden),
to Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Elton John, Kayne West). The
production had masterworks from the Matrix (Korn, Avril Lavigne) in California
to Blair Mackichen from the UK, and Montreal’s Howard Bilerman (Arcade
Fire).
If you
want to hear a great album.... get this cd..
highly
recommended !
