What is Neighbourhood Place?

• A single point of access for services to meet your needs
• Advocacy for our community and it’s citizens
• Community awareness and education on opportunities for social improvement and for an understanding of services
• Coordination of services – to work cooperatively together and share in the resolution of social issues
• Community participation – to encourage citizens to take part in identifying issues and how we can resolve them
• A liaison with government partners by sharing information about our community concerns and by working together to resolve community and regional issues

Based on our mandate of being the connection between needs and resources, Neighbourhood Place’s services are based on the needs of the community. Some of the services that we provide are:

The Community Voice Newsletter – this newsletter was developed as a response to the need of increased communication among groups, organizations & individuals in the community.

Welcome Bags – this initiative was in response to the huge growth in the population and businesses of Blackfalds. By providing new comers to Blackfalds with information about services/ businesses and groups/organizations we hope to increase the support for local business and increase our volunteer base, thereby further strengthening our community’s capacity to meet our own needs.

Neighbourhood Place can:

• Help if you are not sure here to go for information, referrals or support
• Provide information about our community, it’s programs and/or services
• Help you if you have concerns regarding community issues or lack of available services
• Provide information if you would like to become involved in your community
• Host community forums and provide current information on social issues
• Help remove barriers to accessing services
• Facilitate regular service provider forums
• Provide opportunity for social improvement in our community
• Help to build and strengthen our community
