North Shore Runs

Comments:

The North Shore has at least three good runs.

Mt Seymour climbs from sea level to the Mt Seymour ski area via long sweeping roads and switchbacks.  It provides excellent views both to the east and west at different locations along the route.   I tend to go via the Dollarton Hwy and occasionally stop at Gates Park or wander into picturesque Deep Cove.   The biggest problem with this run is the very low speed limits which make a crook out of everybody...

Cypress Bowl is similar to the Seymour run and probably a little more popular.  The lookout provides an unparalleled view of Vancouver.  It also suffers from miniscule speed limits and over active police.

Horeseshoe Bay via Marine Drive is a completely different type of run.   It follows the shoreline in a very tight, twisty road.  Often busy it can be a pain if you get stuck behind one of the West Vancouver old folks but you really shouldn't take this route unless you're in a lazy scenic drive mode.  As a scenic drive that constantly twists and turns it is one of the best.   Horsehoe Bay is worth a look as is the ride out to Whytecliff Park.  Sometimes we'll pop out to Highway 99 from Horseshoe Bay and continue on to Squamish, othertimes we loop back via Highway #1 catching Cypress Bowl on the backswing.
