Homemade Custom Seat Details

 

Making a custom seat requires some knowledge and skill but overall the job isn't hard.  I have customized both my Bandit 1200 and the Goldwing seats.   Both produced excellent results.   These pictures are of the Goldwing seat.  I didn't think to take pictures when doing the B12 but the approach was the same.

2000_09_GoldwingSeat_JustStarted_small.jpg (52132 bytes)The stock seat was fairly wide but flat so a lot of potential support was being wasted.  It also had a downward slope which needed to be neutralized.   The Supreme Boss found the seat a little wide in the knee area so I narrowed it there.   She thought the rear was already pretty good so I was only allowed to do minor widening and contouring.  Too bad...I wanted to go radical on the rear just for the fun of it.2000_09_GoldwingSeat_UnWrapped_small.jpg (74624 bytes)

The end result is shown below.  They are a couple frames captured from my video camera (it's old and analog so don't hassle me about the picture quality).

All in all, not too bad.  And the way the bike should have been made.
