Cultus Lake Run
Comments:
Cultus Lake is a popular run. The lake is warm with great picnic and swimming areas. But a well kept secret it isn't so it gets a tad busy in the summer.
From a biking viewpoint, I find the road past the lake into Columbia Valley to be the best of the area. The road along Chilliwack River towards Chilliwack lake is also very nice although not particularly twisty. Still the country is interesting, the traffic reasonable and, if gravel riding doesn't dampen your spirits, the lake itself is a nice summer picnic spot.
The best biking roads are actually behind Chilliwack in the Ryder Lake area. They are very tight twisty country roads and for that reason perhaps more interesting on a sportbike than a highway cruiser. I'll have to try the Goldwing on those roads and see what scrapes...
Coming from Vancouver, I'll usually drop down #11 and follow the old Yale Road to Vedder Crossing. It's not too bad but to be honest I take it to get off the freeway. Majuba Hill is a "don't miss" though. Short but sweet.
This run can easily be linked to the Langley Run which exits via Harris Rd on #11. Or it can be combined with the Sumas Mtn run which also enters/exits off #11. All three together make a nice "all day" ride from Vancouver to Chilliwack but the combination will probably kill your sportbike friends. Only those with bionic wrists will enjoy it.
