Chuckanut Drive (#11) Run

I've yet to find an interesting way to get to Bellingham so usually just take I-5.   Chuckanut Drive (#11) starts at the Fairhaven Exit (#250).   The road is twisting and picturesque as it meanders along the edge of Chuckanut Bay.  Unfortunately this route suffers traffic congestion and the twisty nature means the pace can be mind numbingly slow at times.   In any case the interesting bits are all done by the time one reaches Bow Hill so I usually take Bow Hill Rd across I-5 and head north on #9 to Sumas.   #9 from Prairie to Deming is a nice ride and none of it is bad.

If you are heading to the Skagit Tulip festival turn right on Bow Hill Road and follow it into the heart of tulip country.   This route connects easily to #20 if you are heading to Whidbey Island.
