Merrit Loop - Pictures
A typical section of the Fraser Canyon. The old lady put-putting along in her car had collected quite a group of bikers. Once one made a break they all followed. She seemed oblivious to it all swerving aimlessly back and forth as if they weren't there. Some passed her on the left and others passed on the right. Perhaps that's why she seemed so confused as to which part of the road was hers...

Route 8 from Spences Bridge to Merrit. Surprisingly unscenic (at least nothing really sets up for my eye) this route is nevertheless a great sportbike run with plenty of open curves tracing the knolls along the valley's edges.

The best view I could find on Route #8... :)

The best kept secret in BC. Coldwater Road south of Merrit is about 40 km of non-stop twisties with very little traffic.

IMHO one of the best pure biking roads in BC!

This is a late September run along 5A near Merrit. There's a dusting of snow from the previous night (!). Luckily it melted off the road quite nicely but late fall riding can sometimes bring surprises.

Mid-summer run on 5A near Princeton. The south end is twistier than the northern end but the entire road is pretty good.

Bromley Rock, a few kilometers east of Princeton, is a handy campsite. It lies on the Stemwinder River and nothing beats floating down the river on a hot summer evening after a long days ride. By the way, if you are travelling from Princeton to Hedley try the north side of the river. It is lightly traveled yet a much better biking road than the main route (most maps show it as partly gravel but it's all paved).

In deference to those folks limping along with bandwidth challenged Internet connections (ie slow) I've moved my Manning Park pictures to here.
