While
photos capture your shape two-dimensionally, a belly cast shows three
dimensions in all their glory. You will be able to admire the cast for
many years to come, and remember your baby's first home, before he or she
was born.
How
a Cast is Done
The
expectant mother chooses the best position for herself. Whether sitting on
the edge of a seat, or standing; leaning to one side or backward or
forward. Remember you will need to remain still for about 20 minutes. A
protective 'jelly' is applied to your belly, plaster strips are applied,
and once dry- about 5 minutes after the last strip is applied- the cast is
removed.
After
48 hours, when the cast is completely dry, and the surface is
treated so it is smooth, you may decorate it!
The
possibilities are endless for decorations, but once you are satisfied with
how it looks, it is sealed with shellac.
