TreeWalk DNS, née BIND-PE, is a complete functional
DNS Server for Microsoft Windows® NT series
workstations. TreeWalk once installed will act as a
recursive and caching multi-threaded Domain Name Server by
default. Featuring persistent cache capabilities that
retains current store of resolutions between reboots and
dynamically prevents the reload of expired data. This will
speed up client side Browser web site name to end point IP
DNS lookups. TreeWalk was designed for Home/SOHO use on
Windows NT4 SP6, Windows 2000 Pro, and Windows XP
workstations. No special skills or BIND DNS experience is
required to install TreeWalk, the process is completely
automated.
TreeWalk eases the task of installing and correctly
configuring the local DNS service with an automated
"One-Click" setup process for Dial-up, Cable modem, and DSL
networks for Windows NT series workstations. Post-install
manual changes to configurations are compatible with the
standard ISC BIND 9 configuration syntax and examples plus
some added functions unique to TreeWalk. For your
convenience, a Control Panel similar to BIND 8 versions is
included (on-screen data). The "readme" file (post-install)
details "realtime" debugging ability.
