KOTC Database Entry: SENTINEL
|
| QUOTE: | "Come quietly or else there will be... trouble." "I have come back in time to stop Monarch. If I only could remember who he is..." |
BACKGROUND: |
This power-armored hero of Star City upholds the good with high tech armament including a mecha-rifle and other gadgets like static field grenades. His fully sealed armor resembles a humanoid veritech fighter. What is less-known about him is that he has travelled back to our time from a point approximately one century in the future, in an attempt to prevent the rise of a great "tyrant" who will cause things to go bad. Very bad. Unfortunately, his mission has been hampered by amnesia, possibly triggered by the stress of his passage through time. During the The Great Supervillain Contest he was taken out by "a hopped-up band of second-rate miscreants" and 'reprogrammed' to defend the Crimson Claw, until freed from this domination by Templar. While assisting the group during the March Crisis, Sentinel hacked into their computer system and granted himself root [L3] status. The group, particularly Phoenix and Cipher have made extensive attempts since that time to expunge his changes from the system, but it seems likely that there still remain some backdoors to the system. This belief was more-or-less confirmed when he exploited these security holes to penetrate the base and steal Cru-S after being subverted by The Industrial Revolution. The human Sentinel joined the group in quest to regain his power suit, prior to his disappearance in battle against that suit during the carnage surrounding the Rock Against Registration benefit concert. |

KotC ENCOUNTERS: |
- approached the Knights in the midst of the March Crisis. After some unauthorized "upgrades" to the computer systems within the Redoubt, he accompanied them on the raid of the impregnable lair of the Justice Machine. - responsible for the destruction of Galahad's hardware in the aftermath of that raid, despite the protests of the White Knight. - joined with the Knights to attack the South American base where the possessed Justice Machine were attempting to invoke their Final Solution. - one of the dominated superheroes forced to defend the Crimson Claw from the assault of the Knights in late-April, 2001. When the mental domination was broken, he helped with the subsequent freeing of a number of other likewise-ensnared superheroes. - reappeared in an adversarial role yet again in mid-June (after his suits programming was again compromised), leading the team of machine entities that raided the Knight's Redoubt to steal Cru-S on behalf of The Industrial Revolution. - when the man-within-the-suit was rescued, he joined them in their ill-fated raid upon the base of The Industrial Revolution within Chicago. In the aftermath of that business his fate was closer entwined with theirs as he, too, was implicated in the attack of the robot doppelgangers which drove the group into hiding. - after building himself a rudimentary exo-skeleton from the components of the MVX and other machines captured by the group, he accompanied them to the Rock Against Registration benefit concert where he went after his subverted power suit with an intent to regain control of it. Disappeared during this battle along with the power suit, leaving only a smoking crater reeking of chronaton particles to give hint as to his fate. |
KotC COMMENTS: |
- Templar: "Has considerable power within his command, yet his mental instability makes him almost as much of a threat as certain of our opponents." |
