This superhero organization operated briefly out of a secret base known as
The Chamber in Washington D.C., under
the auspices of the second Golden Avenger.
With the arrival of the March Crisis, this group reformed to play
an active role in fighting against the increased surge in supervillain activity, adding
White Knight and Lady Liberty
to the core group of the Golden Avenger,
Right Winger and Patriot. Elements of
this reformed group have helped to oversee the repairs and protection of
Hard Rock Superprison, and to take the fight to the foe, foiling the
activities of I.G.L.O.O. and other supervillain groups.
While the original incarnation of this group was also on good terms with the government, since the passing of
The Keene Act there has been a more obvious patron relationship, leading to a
rift in the group even among the superpatriots. In the wake of the resignation of the
Golden Avenger (apparently in protest to the souring political situation
with respect to Exotics), Right Winger has stepped up as
U.S. Agent and taken upon himself the leadership of the Minute Men.
This time of turmoil has also seen the addition of a new member - Bishop - and
has seen the original American Eagle petition the group to allow the most
recent hero to bear that name to join.
One of the first tasks of the group after the reshuffling of its membership? To take down the
rogue superhero organization known as Knights of the Coast.
After some bitter battles between these two teams in Coast City and at
a benefit concert, these squads formed an uneasy (and oft-shattered) alliance
against the robotic menace threatening the White House,
Senate, and in their New York base.
The temporary return of Maverick helped maintain this truce until that
threat had been quelled.
Ultimately, the personality differences amongst the remaining members of the group tore them apart again.
In early August, 2001, U.S. Agent and Patriot
left the group to found The Ultramarines, an elite strike team intended to work
hand in hand with F.O.R.C.E.. Liberty
returned to Philadelphia for personal reasons, but has been sighted thereafter with the
Freedom Brigade. Two other members, namely White
Knight and Bishop, have stepped down from active duty for design
refits and further investigation into the remnants of the robot revolution. Kid
Silver has been pulled from active duty, grounded by Maverick.
The Minute Men are once again no more.
