QUOTE:  "Not in my Land of the Free you don't!"

BACKGROUND:

This was the second person to assume the mantle of the Golden Avenger. The original Golden Avenger was more of a brick with some martial artist skills, who later aquired a sidekick, Kid Silver. Kid Silver then stepped into the role when the original finally decided to retire from the cowl. In this role, he tangled on numerous occasions with The Screaming Skull and other members of the original Injustice Gang.

Both Avengers have shared a good relationship with the US gov't and operated in/near the Washington DC area.

Once retired, the Golden Avenger was drawn back into active duty by the events of the March Crisis, and reformed the Minute Men. He has also revealed to the world a new Kid Silver. This new role did not last long, however. In mid-May, 2001, he announced that he could no longer support the activities of the government, and turned in his mask to Agent DeSalvo at the Empire Club meeting of the Gentleman's Adventurers Society.

Leaving the Minute Men, he took up a new identity and embarked on a soul-searching quest across America to find has become of the land of the Brave, before being drawn back to the Nation's Capital by the near-fatal beating of his former protégé Kid Silver. There he was witness to a scrap between Phoenix and U.S. Agent in the aftermath of the battle to take down the rogue Enforcer that was threatening Washington D.C., and drawn into taking charge of elements of his former group and the Knights of the Coast in a mission to liberate the Capitol Building from the grip of an invading army of robots.

- Manticore: "Goldenrod's not too bad a character. A bit stuffy, perhaps, but as far as these self-proclaimed heroes go..."
