ROUGHNECKS
GAMEDAY: CALGARY @ MINNESOTA
21.01.06
1:32 AM
Disappointing. That’s the only way to describe the Roughnecks
game last night against Minnesota. So, after the aforementioned
disappointment yesterday, the ‘Necks will be looking to pull
a win out as they travel up the QE II to Edmonton for another battle
of Alberta (Rogers Sportsnet, 7pm MT). And as a side note, we will
review the weekend in whole after the game tonight, this is why
there is no game article up for the Minnesota game.
With shotty
defensive play, and an offensive that just couldn’t get
anything by Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson, we can only hope
the Riggers were reserving their strength for the battle tonight.
What we do know for sure is that Ryan McNish and Rob Williams
will be in action, as they were resting themselves for today.
It is to the best of our understanding that Ogilvie had prior
commitments and was not able to play. We are not sure of his status
for the Edmonton game.
And as we
all know, the Edmonton Rush lost their last game, which was against
the Roughnecks. They be searching for some revenge tonight and
hoping that home barn advantage will serve them well.
WHO’S
HOT:
CALGARY
ROUGHNECKS – Tracey Kelusky and Kaleb Toth both
turned their games up a notch last night. Toth had 1 goal and
5 helpers while collecting 3 loose balls. Kelusky was able to
find some of his scoring touch, and netted 2 with 1 assist. Lewis
Ratcliff also continued his great play, with 1 goal, 3 assists,
and 6 loose balls. And lets not forget those Wray brothers. Taylor
was able to get 1 helper tonight on top of his 7 loose balls collected,
while big brother Devan owned the faceoff circle, going 16 for
25 and gathering a team high 9 loose balls.
EDMONTON
RUSH – Jamey Bowen is the Edmonton Rush’s
leading scorer, with 5 goals and 3 assists. 3 of his 5 goals were
scored against Calgary last weekend, as well as 2 of his assists.
Jim Quinlan looks to be Edmonton’s other big scorer, with
8 points for himself which comprise of 2 goals and 6 assists.
WHO’S
NOT:
CALGARY
ROUGHNECKS – Curtis Palidwor looked a little shaky
last night in net. He let in 12 goals on 41 shots, which is sub-par
for the Curtis we know. We can only hope that he’ll regroup
and backstop the ‘Necks to another win over Edmonton. Also,
despite having a great summer season, Kevin Dostie is almost invisible
on the floor (and this is not a joke about his height). With only
1 assist in 2 games, he isn’t living up to the expectations
that were had for him this season
EDMONTON
RUSH – Former Roughneck Kevin Howard was expected
to be Edmonton’s main offensive gun this season, but so
far, he’s just shooting blanks. With 3 points in 2 games,
its clear to all that he’s not producing the way the team
expected him to. The Edmonton goaltender, Pat Campbell, hasn’t
been doing all that well in net either. Its almost a give in that
this is because of weak defense, but with a team like Edmonton,
your goalie is going to need to step up and be your best player.
WHO
TO WATCH OUT FOR:
CALGARY
ROUGHNECKS – Today, I’m going to go with
TK and KT again. They looked to get in the groove last night,
and expect it to continue into tonight. Also look for Kevin Dostie
to try turning his game up, as well as Andrew Biers.
EDMONTON
RUSH – Kevin Howard will break out of his slump,
no doubt. Lets just hope its not tonight. And keep looking towards
Jim Quinlan and Jamey Bowen to keep providing offensive to the
Rush squad.
INJURIES:
CALGARY
ROUGHNECKS – Our sources tell us Jesse Phillips
will not be in the lineup tonight, but look for him to make his
return next week against the Rock, where we can all hope to see
Phillips VS Veltman, round 2.
EDMONTON
RUSH – To the best of our knowledge, there are
no Rush injuries we know about…. Then again, we don’t
really care either :p
LETS
SHOW THE RUSH WHO REIGNS SUPREME IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA!!!
