ELLEN FLORA MACRAE

Ellen MacRae (Mrs. John F. MacEwen) was born in Roxborough, near Moose Creek, Stormont, Ontario, July 18, 1860. She was brought up in a typical highland Scotch home of the early days. It was a home, bright with wholesome happy life, yet a home where the sabbath was kept and reverenced. (That means you were to do nothing but read the bible on Sundays!) These early influences were evident in all her after life. She was the ideal wife and mother. Her daughter, Mrs. Gardiner, bears testimony to her in the following words,
she had a lovely disposition, always thinking of others, and had great faith in God. She was a great friend of the young people, and many a Sunday evening the young people of Craik, Sask. spent in our home singing hymns.
She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.G. Gardiner, Lemberg, Sask. May 20, 1918, mourned by a wide circle of friends.
