Vancouver's North Shore, as well as being home to thousands of human residents, is also black bear country. In an increasingly industrialized world, our conservation efforts in close proximity to the North Shore's natural beauty is something of which we can be truly proud.

Fortunately, with society’s growing environmental awareness, we are becoming more sensitive to how we can successfully and safely co-exist with our local bears as we intrude ever further into their natural habitat. It is the purpose of the 2007 North Shore Bear Festival to celebrate the bear's unique position in our ecology and culture.
