| About the Festival
The North Shore Bear Fest will celebrate bears
for their unique attributes and
behaviors. The goal of this community-wide event is to inspire residents and local authorities
to institute more proactive, responsible, bear smart solutions.
Tourism:
The first-ever North Shore Bear Fest to be held in British Columbia this April,
coinciding with the end of hibernation period, will attract
local interest from Vancouver to the Sea to Sky Corridor.
Focus on Natural Assets: The festival will showcase black bears in their natural setting in the North Shore's mountainous region, with its beauty and other wildlife.
Far-ranging Support and Participation: Support includes all three
North Shore municipalities, B.C. Conservation
Officer Service, local and national non-government organizations, schools,
private businesses, and countless dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.
Model for Other Communities: The North Shore Spring Bear Festival
Society believes that this eco-educational festival will
become a recurring event that will grow and evolve over time to continue to
meet bear co-existence challenges. We hope to be a model for other festivals of this kind in other communities, sharing information and expertise.
