Approach by Charles and Cynthia Hou
The Siege of Fort Pitt by Elizabeth McLean

Elizabeth
McLean was a young girl in 1885 living in Fort Pitt with
her father, the HBC factor. When Big Bear's band of Cree
surrounded the fort, she manned rifles just like everyone
else in the fort. She was a very brave young girl, and this
bravery really impressed the natives. In her diary, "The
Siege of Fort Pitt", she tells the story of her capture
and captivity amongst the Indians.
