Why Join a Good Sam Chapter |
|
|
The story behind The Good Sam Club is 4 decades in the making. A group of RVers began placing a Good Samaritan sticker on the bumper of their trailer while on the road to let fellow RV families know that they were there to help. This idea spread through RV parks and campgrounds across the US and Canada until the club developed into what it is today. Members still display a smiling face on their bumpers, but the club is much more than emergency help on the road. Today, membership to the club will bring you a variety of discounts, services, a members only site, RV related publications and regional groups and activities to link you to other RV families in your area. Once you are a good Sam member, you have the right to join or form a Good Sam Chapter. The main reason for joining a chapter is to have fun. It is also a great place to make new friends. There are 21 Chapters in BC. By belonging to a chapter you can take part in your chapter activities, as well as any of the provincial activities that are taking place. What your chapter does is up your chapter, but most go camping on a regular basis, attend the BC Samboree, fall and spring meetings, or go to invitational campouts through out the province. As well many chapters have social meetings during the cold winter months. Most chapters get involved in community activities, you can be part of the adopt a highway program or contributing to Pads, (Pacific Assistance Dogs) etc. Chapters can have anywhere from five rigs and up and elect their own executive and plan their own activities. By having a chapter, your president is given a place on the provincial board to vote for decisions being made by the provincial body on behalf of your chapter. Should you wish to join a chapter, please consult our chapter listings for a chapter in your area and contact the Pres. of the chapter. They would be more than happy to have you attend a meeting to show you what they are all about. If you do not have a chapter in your area, please contact the provincial director and he will be more than happy to assist you in the establishment of a chapter in your area.
