B.C.  SAM’S OFFICIAL GAME RULES

BEAN BAG BASEBALL

1.  The Umpire is in charge of the game, his/her decision is final!

2.  The home plate is situated 18 feet in front of the board.

3.   The teams will be selected from the names submitted on the sign up roster.  The number of players per team will not exceed nine.

4.   Each team will select a captain.   The captain will give the umpire the batting order.   A coin toss will decide the home or visitors team.   Home team bats last.

5.  Each batter will deliver their bags from home plate and the batter must not place his/her foot ahead of home plate while delivering their bag.

6.  Each batter will be given three (3) bean bags to toss at the board.   Each bag tossed that does not go in a hole is a strike.  If all bags do not go in a hole it is a strike out.

7.  Three (3) outs comprise an “at bat” for each team.   When a bag goes into a hole the batter must do what the hole states – example- if the bag goes into the double hole the batter will go to second base.   Any batters that are on first or second are forced to move up a base.   Players do not advance to home unless they are forced.  Runs are scored by forcing in a runner.

8.  A maximum of 6 runs or 3 outs per team constitutes an inning.

9.  Each teams last at bat:  If the visiting team is losing it will be allowed to score no more than 6 runs more than the total scored by the home team;  however, it has to be made before the team acquires 3 outs.   The home team may score one more than the visitors before 3 outs are made.

10. If a runner goes to sit on his chair without having touched all bases and home plate his scoring will not be allowed to count and the player is out.

If a bag is only half into the hole and the following bag thrown by the same player causes the first bag thrown to fall into the hole it is the first bag that counts.

BOCCE GAME RULES

The object of the game of Bocce is to get as many balls close to the pallino (jack ball) thereby scoring the maximum points possible.   The game of Bocce is usually concluded at 21 points but for Rallies and Samborees total points will conclude at 11.

The game is played between two teams with from 1 to 4 players on each team.  At Rallies and Samborees the game will be played with 4 players on each team.

Make up teams from the list of players on the sign up sheet.   Mixed teams from different Chapters seem to be the best fun.

The toss of a coin determines the team that throws out the first pallino (jack ball) to start the game.   At all times the player throwing the pallino follows by throwing their ball first.  A foot marker is provided and all players must deliver their ball by placing a foot on this marker.

A player from the opposing team then plays their ball, trying to get closer to the pallino.   At this point the team further from the pallino plays the next ball.  Play continues in this manner until all balls have been played.

While the object is to get closer to the pallino, it is permissible to play knock out by trying to remove the opposing team’s ball from play.   If it is undecided who is closest to the ball, then players should alternate throwing.   A measuring tape may be used to determine which ball is closest only after all balls have been played.

After all balls have been played, the team with one or more balls closer to the pallino counts 1 point for each ball.

The team that scores the point starts the next frame of play.

Have fun and be a good sport during tournament play!!

STRING GOLF

Top rung scores 1 point.  Middle rung scores 2 points.   Bottom rung scores 3 points.

Frames are placed appx. 25 ft. apart.  Players throw 3 strings each.   Any player can start.   After that, the player whose team has the highest score always throws first.

In competition, count all strings to a total of 15 points.  If the player who throws first reaches 15 first, he/she throws all their strings.    The last thrower has a chance to tie or win by beating the opponent’s score.   In the event of a tie, you play until you have a winner.

Strings must hang from a rung to score.   If all of the string wraps around the side of the frame, it does not score.   However, if it hangs from the rung and the rest of the string wraps around the side of the frame, it will score.
