Barnston Island Run

Comments:

Barnston Island sits in the middle of the Fraser River providing a 10km "River Road" atmosphere as you circumnavigate the island.   There are no twisties and the pavement is marginal so don't expect biking nirvana.  But the island  provides a different perspective on the area, the ferry ride is fun (free) and traffic non-existent.  If it's a warm summer's day try a picnic at Robert Point while watching the planes, boats and wildlife in the area.

The route from 128th Street to about 140th is a nice biking road with elevation changes, curves and light traffic.  The section along Tynehead Regional Park (shown in yellow) is similar without the elevation changes.   Coupled with the Patullo Bridge and Barnston Island at each end, the loop shown makes a decent 75km jaunt.  Especially if you're searching for a little variety.
