Stanley Park Run
Comments:
This is included mainly because Stanley Park is a Vancouver landmark. As a biking road it is too short and congested to stand on its own but no other run provides the "downtown ambience". So it makes a nice change on a warm summer's afternoon where riding becomes incidental. If you are in the mood to get off the bike and pay the parking fees, there is plenty to do such as viewpoints, restaurants, ice-cream shops, beaches, trails and promenades for strolling, a miniture railway for the kid at heart and of course the Aquarium. And those of you with Harleys can always cruise the downtown scaring people. :))
The Stanley Park Run links to the UBC Run quite nicely (see UBC Run page). Coming from UBC I'll enter via the Burrard Street bridge, take a series of rights to swing around to Beach Avenue and then enter the park at Lost Lagoon. This avoids much of the downtown congestion.
The roads in the park are mostly one way running counter clockwise. I usually exit after a full loop via Lion's Gate Bridge to the Trans Canada #1 in North Vancouver. This provides easy access to the North Shore (see the Seymour, Cypress and Horseshoe Bay runs) and allows a nice highway jaunt back home (Burnaby) via the Second Narrows Bridge and the Cassiar Tunnel.
