Little B.C. Oldsmobile Club History |
|
In 1970 a local Oldsmobile enthusiast Harold Schleger purchased an Oldsmobile 442. In the summer of 1984 he began asking around and other than his long-time friend; Marno Cross, nobody seemed to know much about these types of cars. He then decided to put an ad in the Auto Trader publication to see if anyone was interested in these cars or in forming a club. Many people responded to the ad and the birth of the B.C. OLDSMOBILE CLUBtook place on the last Wednesday in January of 1985. Sixteen Olds-nuts attended it's christening and became the "Founding Members" who you will find listed on the Founding Members page. Of the original sixteen members; five are still active to this date. On February 27th, 1985 the club held it's second meeting at "General Car Care" on Tyner Street in Port Coquitlam. It was at this time that the first executive members of the club were elected to run the clubs affairs. They were as follows:

| Meetings
were moved after Gene Wray’s mother Florence, graciously donated the
use of the recreation room in her apartment building for our use.
It was here that the first show and shine at Wolfe Chev-Olds was organized, Linda Wray designed our club logo, club dues were
set (which have
not increased in the 15 years of the club’s existence)
and all the business of organizing a new club was conducted.
After a few months the meetings were moved to the coffee room of Wolfe Chev-Olds, in Vancouver, B.C. (the dealership that has continued to be our main sponsor). As of Spring 2003, our meetings moved to an new facility in the "TOWN HALL MEETING ROOM" of the George Derby Centre, located at 7550 Cumberland in Burnaby, B.C. The meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month and begin at 7:30 pm. Check our calendar of events for any plans to meet for dinner prior to the meetings.
