My father, Jonathan Bartlett, fought with the Benbow and Drake Battalions of the Royal Naval Division in 1914 - 1919 and I have written a history using his Service Record as a time line.

My first edition, 1923, of the official history of the Division, The Royal Naval Division by Douglas Jerrold, has been converted by S & N Genealogy into a pdf document which I unfortunately cannot post on this web site. The best I can do is to display the Contents page which has a link to the Index pages. Check the index to see if your ancestor is mentioned and ask me for selected pages. A recently published edition is available at the Naval & Military Press. The book does not have much to say about individuals unless they were of Staff rank or recognised heroes and the PBI (Poor Bloody Infantry) hardly get a mention! But they were there with my dad among the best of them.
