ALLEGRO CON TRIO

Wedding Music Planning Guide

PRELUDE

We recommend that music begin 15 minutes prior to the ceremony, as guests are being seated by the ushers.  You may select music of your preference, or allow us to arrange a varied programme of appropriate pieces.

PROCESSIONAL:

For the bride’s procession down the aisle, music with a slow tempo in 2/4 or 4/4 time is suitable.  The following pieces are appropriate choices:

Bridal Chorus ("Here Comes The Bride") -  Wagner

Pachelbel's "Canon" in D major

Largo from Winter Concerto – A. Vivaldi

Air from “Water Music” – G.F. Handel

Gabriel’s Oboe from “The Mission”

Arioso – J.S. Bach

SIGNING OF THE REGISTER:

Generally a piece which is slow and romantic in mood, such as:

One Hand, One Heart (Wedding Theme from “West Side Story”)

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring – J. S. Bach

Air on the G String – J. S. Bach

Salut D’Amour, Op. 12 – E. Elgar

To A Wild Rose from Woodland Sketches Op. 51 – E. MacDowell

RECESSIONAL:

We recommend a joyful, lively piece in 2/4 or 4/4 time, such as:

Wedding March – F. Mendelssohn

Hornpipe from “Water Music” – G. F. Handel

La Rejouissance from “Fireworks Music” – G.F. Handel

Ode To Joy – L. Van Beethoven

Trumpet Voluntary – J. Clarke

Trumpet Tune – H. Purcell

Balletto from Ancient Airs and Dances, Set 1 – O. Respighi

REQUESTS

We would be pleased to provide pieces of your choice which are not listed, given a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.  Should you choose to provide us with music, it must be scored for two treble voices and one bass voice (piano music is NOT suitable).  If it is necessary to transcribe your selections to suit our ensemble, a $25/hour transcription fee will apply.
