Upside-Down Meat Pie
Bake, turn upside down and serve in wedges.
Ingredients:-
1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 or 2 cloves garlic, chopped (optional)
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
Method:-
Preheat oven to 425ºF.
Brown meat in oil; add onion, and green pepper. Cook stirring frequently, until meat is well browned and onion is transparent. Add other ingredients. Mix well. Pour into a 9-inch pie pan.
Make topping (recipe below). Roll out to fit top of pie pan. Make slits on top. Place over meat mixture. Bake in preheated oven 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Let stand a minute or two. Invert over serving dish. Cut in wedges.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
Topping:-
Mix 1 cup Basic Baking Mix and 1/3 cup cream. Beat 20 strokes.
Place dough on a board lightly dusted with flour. Knead 8 to 10 times to smooth out. Roll out as described in above recipe.
