Florida Orange Braid

An attractive braided loaf, especially flavourful when drizzled with the orange glaze.

Instructions:-
Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Stir together, until dissolved
1/2 cup lukewarm water (100ºF)
1 teaspoon sugar
Sprinkle over top and let stand 10 minutes
1 envelope active dry yeast
Stir briskly with a fork.

Beat in 1/4 cup orange juice
3 cups Basic Baking Mix
1 tablespoon grated orange rind

Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead about 5 minutes.
Roll to a 5x16-inch rectangle. Cut into 3 long strips. Braid strips on a greased baking sheet, sealing ends well.
Cover with wax paper and a damp cloth, let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).

Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.

Partially cool and drizzle with a mixture of
3/4 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
Makes 1 loaf.
