Chocolate Cake
Yield:- 8x8x2-Inch Cake
Ingredients:-
2 cups Basic Formula Mix (do not pack)
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup sour milk (or 1/2 cup milk with 1-1/2 tsps vinegar)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled (N.B. Below)
1 egg, well beaten
Directions:-
Blend mix, sugar and soda. Add milk and vanilla. Beat well. Stir in chocolate.
Add egg and blend.
Pour batter into cake pan, which has been greased.
Bake at 350ºF for about 35 minutes. Turn out on rack to cool. Frost as desired.
N.B.:- For unsweetened chocolate you may substitute 4 tablespoons cocoa and 1-1/2 tablespoons fat. (margaine, butter, shortening).
