QDCALC
QDCalc is a survey calculation tool, initiated as a project many years ago. Although it is primarily written in an old version of Borland Turbo Pascal (v. 3.01), do NOT be fooled - QDC is a professional tool and is the product of
- over 21,000 lines of compiled Pascal code
- over 3500 lines of assembly code (and I wrote the assembler!)
- many, many sweaty hours of programming and debugging!
QDC was not developed to replace your existing calculation software, but to supplement it. It can co-exist with other, more comprehensive packages, and share data through ASCII text files. While QDC may never really be considered a finished product(?), I heartily encourage you to try it. Debugging is extensive and I believe QDC is powerful and safe. Features of QDC are too numerous to cover here, but a brief overview of features would include:
- thoroughly used and tested in MSDOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows XP Pro. Operates in full screen mode or in a window.
- capacity of over 10,000 2-D or 3-D (mixed) points
- VERY fast (instant!) point access and handling
- random point numbers from 1 to 65535, including optional lettered prefixes (eg. A1, T25)
- pre-assigned (by user) point descriptions for any point
- easily manipulate single points, or groups of points using point sets
- logical data entry using +, -, *, / or parentheses (eg. distance = 2*15-0.02), and more
- context sensitive pop-up help screens
- extensive configuration
- Network Aware feature for data protection with multiple users
- limited printing of routines, to real printer or to file
- printing of co-ordinate data to real printer or to file
- detailed searchable User's Reference (Windows-based .CHM file)
- pop-up HP style (stack oriented) calculator. Calculator is programmable!
- use calculator contents in any data input
- POWERFUL macro feature; create problem solving macros, solve ANY area or positioning problem. Macros can be memorized on the fly, or pre-written in text files.
- read or write ascii data files (pt#, north, east, elevation, description) in a variety of formats
- automatically generate DXF output, as you calculate, or send points and data out as DXF manually
- curve solver - solve any curve from any available information about it
- all traversing, inversing, transformation (scale, shift, rotate) functions
- all intersections easily done, with offset options!
- user configurable azimuth format, decimals, sound, window placement, etc.
For raw calculation power and user flexibility, I stack QDC against any and all comers!
With the advent of Windows®, QDCalc has been upgraded to take advantage of some of the features of Windows®, such as easy install/uninstall, and hypertext linked help. Have a look at the User's Reference, or download and install QDCalc to use it!
QDCalc need not (and probably can't ) replace your existing calculation program, but can easily supplement it's performance. QDCalc's macro facility is the most powerful problem solver around. Give it a try!
