Other families: Bradford This page is devoted to trying to present the
Y-DNA test results for those who have been tested and found to be descendants of Gov. William
Bradford who was one of the passengers of the Mayflower. The
Possible Divergence diagram shows the test results of 5 members(shown as Kit# on right-hand side of diagram)
who have been tested where only 4 can trace their ancestry back to William
Bradford, the 5th person tested(Kit# 36488) is from the same group but his
ancestral lineage is unknown at the present time. The diagram that shows the Y-DNA test results contains all of the Allele DYS# and their values that were tested. Allele numbers that show a higher rate of mutation are shown in red while those that mutate more slowly are shown in black. Any location that has a mutation is shown high-lighted compared to the values that have not mutated. In all cases, if the majority of the values for a given Allele number show a variation then the majority of tests are assumed to be the original value and the mutations are the minority. In the case where two people who have been tested who are known to descend from the same line and have mutations that occur in pairs then these mutations have originated in their line sometime between when their line started and the time of their most recent common ancestor. In the case of kit #26447 and 57360 who descend from Israel Bradford and their most recent common ancestor is Martin Bradford then these two have mutations at Allele value 447 and 456. If a mutation is shown only on one line then that mutation is for that individuals line only and happened between the time of the common ancestor and the person tested. The only one like this is CDY-a for kit #145825. The other two members, kit # 145825 and 166460 have a common mutation at Allele value 449. Since these two lines split at John Bradford(1652/1653-1736) then this mutation happened with John based the the assumptions being used. There is another common mutation at Allele value CDY-a but this is from kit # 36488 and 145825 and since the lineage of kit # 36488 is unknown then these two cannot be linked together but must have occurred on each of their lines. If and when more males are tested and analyzed this may change the way that the locations are viewed. Tests done on members who descend from other sons of William Bradford(1624-1702/1703) are the ones that will add to the pool of data. Since William had nine sons and only descendants from two have been tested that leaves seven remaining lines that are possible candidates for testing. All members have had a 37-Marker Y-Chromosome DNA test done, only those values that show a mutation are indicated in the diagram. The box on the left side shows the DYS#/Value that William Bradford would have had and the boxes associated with each member tested shows where a mutation occurred and the new value. The circles show a common ancestor with the first one being the son of Gov. William Bradford, I. This son, William Bradford, II is shown as 2-William, II(1624-1702/03), the 2 is for the generation level and the numbers within the parentheses show the year of birth and death. As more data is collected for descendants of Gov. William Bradford, the chart will most likely change but based on the data at the present time this is a best choice.
