The!Checker V. 4.09 and Newer

I would like to point out a feature of The!Checker that will certainly help you out in completing your collections and makes it really easy for the posters to organize your requests. When checking a collection for correctness make sure that you have a checkmark in the "Output as .CSV" box (see graphic) and a csv file will be created and placed in your default reports folder (Usually in the same folder that you keep your csv files). Please make sure that you have the -  Don't verify CRC - check box UnChecked!!! Now simply take that file and post it to your favorite newsgroup with a well titled header and the people filling your request can do so with relative ease.

The file that is generated will look something like:

Archie_80's_Miss_Wrong_160.csv

Using The!Checker - to gather files for upload

Now what to do with those miss_wrong.csv files that people post to the newsgroups? For the most part it is a relatively easy process as long as the miss_wrong file was created properly. Meaning that you use the same naming scheme and most importantly the file has CRC value's included. If the file is not in the same format as your collection or does not have the crc value all is not lost if you have the Hunter which can also use the miss_wrong.csv to gather the files together and is not as picky about the csv file. However it does have it's own quirks.

Step 1 - You must have a Collection List that points to the path of the requested miss_wrong.csv files highlighted. As an example below I'm gathering files for a request for files from the 80's decade. Next follow the path in the graphic below.

Step 2 - In the next popup window simply insert the downloaded file into the appropriate place and then select where you want the files to be copied to.

Step 3- Sit back and let the program copy the files into your destination folder. If everything was done correctly you should be able to post the files using your favorite posting software with the whole process taking a couple of minutes.

If the files are not copied to the upload folder the most likely causes would be that the Collection List did not point to the correct path that holds the miss_wrong files or the miss_wrong.csv file is incompatible with your collection.

Using Hunter - to gather files for upload

If your having trouble with The!Checker you can use Hunter to gather the files instead. Hunter is more forgiving and has more choices but also creates a new folder based on the name of the csv file and places the files there. I'm not going into great detail here as if you have setup Hunter already and tried it's features then it should be a straight forward process.

Hunter does not need the correct file name or even a crc value and can go on byte sizes only but this can lead to problems as I have found out first hand. Depending on the csv file your attempting to use select the appropriate option above and simply add the csv and collection folder or folders in the Hunt window boxes and sit back and gather the files for upload.

Again Hunter will automatically create a new folder in your default collection path that will hold all of the gathered files.
