The photos
on the left and right show typical restorations.
More
than just a repair or "make work", but a complete restoration
of case and movements is always in order! I am
not in business to sell thousands of clocks, but do this as a hobby and
try to bring case and movement to near original as possible.Wood cases
are made to look good without looking completely new.
The movements however, are made to be as close as possible to new condition.
When bushings are needed, they
are done in such a way that repairs are not obvious and no soft solder
or hole closing techniques. All movements are
completely disassembled and ultrasonic cleaned , proper oil and grease
are used with care so as not to get everywhere.
Price reflects approximately up to half the retail value for the restoration.
Many cases and movements require fifty or more hours to restore. Marble
cases are another matter, cases are filled, repaired, and cleaned. Then
they are polished to bring back their original shine as much as is possible.
In many cases I have a series of pictures of the restoration process and
if so desired these can be supplied upon request.
