Nintendo DS Translations

Those of us outside of Japan get screwed a lot. There are a ton of really awesome RPGs and Fighter that never see our shores. There is hope though. There are plenty of folks working to help non-speakers play. Thanks to the wonders of Slot 1 cards, it's easier than ever.

The most common form of translation is a translation guide. This is just a blog post or website with game menus translated. Sometimes the entire text of a game. These guides are nice, but a pain in the ass to work with. The best form of translation is a translation patch. You apply the patch to your game (you need to rip/download the rom) and *poof*! The game is now in English.

There are a few patching methods currently being used. For that reason, I'm not going to do a step-by-step guide. Every team includes instructions with their release. It isn't hard to do. Most these days make it really easy by including a drag-and-drop patcher with their patches.
