There are many applications out there for DS. Most are specialty apps or outdated. Only a handful are great for all users. The most well know application is MoonShell. MoonShell is the all-in-one media player to have. It's included with the firmware for most slot 1 devices today.

Another superstar application is DSLua. Lua is a scripting language. People write apps and games with it. Think of this as an operating system. If you've used LuaPlayer for PSP you know what I'm saying. You can find download links for games and apps on the official site (see link).

People don't just port programs for DS. Some crazy folks decided to port entire operating systems. DSLinux is a prime example of this. There are a few Windows clones out there. I read on a forum that a guy got Windows 95 working on DS. I think he was full of shit but you never know.

DSOrganize is the all-in-one application solution. It gives your DS typical PDA functions: calendar, day planner, address book, to-do list,
scribble pad, calculator, and file browser. It also gives you the best IRC, free web browser, and a homebrew database. You can download from the database directly to your slot 1 card (official demos & homebrew). It auto-connects using your hardware settings. It also auto-detects the date/time.
