Ang's Profile: A Life of Excitement
"Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come!”
-- Song of Songs 2 : 10

Each day I strive to follow the Lord’s footsteps and listen for His voice. My goal in life is to stretch my limits, broaden my horizons, and continuously grow in my relationship with God. Presently, I am completing the fourth year of my BA and will graduate with a Major in Christianity and Culture and a Minor in Catholic Theological Studies from Trinity Western University (TWU) and Redeemer Pacific College (RPC).

In Spring 2005 I was awarded the Fund for Theological Education (FTE) Undergraduate Fellowship Partnership for Excellence Scholarship, and went on a trip to the FTE summer conference in St. Louis, MN. The conference provided me with the opportunity to meet world renoun scholars, preachers and ministers as well as many inspiring young adults on fire for the Lord.

I used the FTE $1500 US scholarship money I received to found the 'Abuse Awareness for Students' Ministry, which focuses on educating students by providing them with information and contact resources. Since then, I have implemented an Issue Awareness Campaign on Sexual Assault of Women in Canada.

In order to highlight issues surrounding abuse, I learned how to make websites and created the Abuse Awareness for Students website that provides students with valuable information, resources and contacts for local social service and medical agencies.

I am now networking with various local societies and health organizations in order to gather resources for the TWU Wellness Centre as well as make connections for the Building Awareness Through Tantilizing Ice Cream (BATTI) program. The purpose of BATTI is to provide students with free ice cream while also educating them about abuse through inviting local non-profit societies and health organizations to present talks and handing out information.

Abuse Awareness for Students primary goals for FALL 2006 is to raise money for BATTI and local transition houses, to increase student membership in the organization, and its primary focus for the semester is organizing and implementing a Depression and Suicide Awareness Evening Seminar so as to address imperative needs of the student body. Depression and suicide are imperative topics to be covered as TWO students from TWU committed suicide right before January 2006 and no forum was held on the matter!
