Abuse Awareness for Students Ministry

More needs to be done to build student awareness on the issues surrounding abuse. Thus, I have felt called by God to start the Abuse Awareness for Students ministry. 2006 TWU Issues Poster Campaign - Awarded 2nd Place: raised awareness on Sexual Assault of Women in Canada. Created and distributed posters and flyers on campus that provided statistics, resource information and local contacts. Used other creative means to get the word out, like handing out stickers and free mini-frizbees, chalking statistics, providing TWU's Wellness Centre with informational brochures, etc. ALL of the $100 prize money received is going back into raising abuse awareness.

Abuse Awareness for Students Website: After teaching myself some html and how to use Dreamweaver, I completed the overall framework for the website. After many hours of rigorous work, the website was finally completed on April 23rd, 2006, and launched in honour of Victims of Crime Awareness Week.

Building Awareness Through Tantilizing Ice cream (BATTI): provides free ice cream to students while also educating them about abuse through inviting local non-profit societies and health organizations to present talks and handing out information.

Waterfall Mirror Sculpture to TWU: the plans for a massive artwork that speaks on abuse and the healing power of God's grace but funds are needed for the building phase of the project After fundraising and building, the completed art piece will be donated to TWU. My hope is that the artwork will speak about abuse to students in ways that statistics and facts never could.
