1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 bananas)
1/3 cup sour cream
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs. Blend in bananas and sour cream. Stir together dry ingredients and add to batter, stirring just until combined. Add the nuts. Pour into a greased 9-x-5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350°C for about 1 hour, or until knife inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out of pan and let cool on a wire rack.
