The graph with the fish background is my represention of the blue MNR graphs at the bottom. It shows the percentage of the spawning population based on length of each fish measured.
This data was used to change the regulations to help protect the spawning population. Note the summary below the graph.

Summary: The old 18" regulation protected 27% of the spawners at South Bay. Research indicates that the breeding population is around 200 to 300 fish. The RED bar graph data also represents that segment of the brook trout population that is now protected under the 22" regulations for the Nipigon system. This protects 87% of the population.
