South Bay Spawning Population 2001-2003
The "X" axis of the above graph is recorded in millimeters 27% less than 18" (460) 60% between 18 to 22" 13% larger than 22' (555) Summary: The old 18" regulation protected 27% of the spawners at South Bay. Research indicates that the breeding population is around 200 to 300 fish. The RED bar graph data also represents that segment of the brook trout population that is now protected under the 22" regulations for the Nipigon system. This protects 87% of the population.
