The Lake Nipigon Basin (see map) was identified as one of nine Featured Areas (also known as Signature Sites) in the Ontario’s Living Legacy Land Use Strategy (July 1999), and is recognized as having a range of highly significant natural and cultural values that warrant special strategies. The Lake Nipigon Basin also has very significant tourism and recreation potential that merits enhanced planning and management.
