Overview

I'm not a car person. I just love my car. Yes that it confusing but its true. I know little about how a car works and what not but I love my car. Seems like many people nowadays haven't even heard of it but that makes even more worth while to own one. The car I'm talking about is a Nissan Pulsar. And here is the story of why I love my car.

The History

Although I haven't been driving for that long, I've still managed to find and drive a very cool unique car. That car was a 1987 Nissan Pulsar SE with a puny 4 cylinder engine. You had to floor it to get up to 60km/h but man, it was a blast to drive. One of the smallest cars on the road back in the day, it had a sturdy frame and a sharp turning radius. The pulsar was a breeze to park and always made a statement. It was two tone gray with a T-roof and blue interior, a feature that has since been replaced with the sunroof. I prefer the t-roof design personally.

Pulsar

The car had two nicknames: Smily Face due to the way the front looked when the lights were up and the flying wedge due to the overall shape. I love the flying wedge name. I had good times in that car. My friend and I would take the t-roof off, roll down the windows, put our sunglasses on and just drive. Oh yeah, we were cool. Now, don't get me wrong, the car had its flaws. Horrible blind spot making it positively pointless to shoulder check since all you would see was a wall, the driver's door rattled, sometimes the e-brake light wouldn't shut off but meh, the problems were never that majour. We bought some small concave mirrors to stick on the side mirrors which got rid of the blind spot and everything else we jsut got used to. The car had style and presence and that was what mattered. We had some good times in that car. Once we even managed to fight in six people! The pulsar does have a back seat but it's a rumble seat, squishy for two. We had three people in the back with the tallest in the middle, bonking his head on the light, two people in shot gun and my bro driving. A car that really only big enough for two, fit four males and two females. Thank god it wasn't that long of a drive.

Now why have I been using past tense? Simple, the car is no longer with us. At the start of summer last year, my sister was coming home from work when some idiot decided to screw the stop sign and turned right into her. Luckily he turned into the passenger side corner so my sister was fine but that was another story. The hood was crunched up, one of the tires had part of the car pressed up against it and oil was leaking pretty bad. I silently cried to myself when I saw it that faithful day. One of the covers for the lights had fallen off and we were debating whether to keep it or not but decided against that since it wasn't the one with nissan on it. The inside was basically undamaged though. It didn't since the car was scrapped.

Nowadays

I missed that car so much that at the end of grade 12 I began a search for another Pulsar to replace the dearly departed. Finally, at the end of October, October 29th to be precise, I acquired my car. Its an white 1988 one but other than that, its the same. Same engine, same blue enterior, same feel. The couple I bought it from were acutally the original owners and had put almost $1500 worth of work into it in the last few years. I bought it for $1450 which I think was well worth it. Yes, there is some stuff we do need to work on which I will cover as well, but Pulsie's all mine and I plan to enjoy him for years to come.

Well had some trouble a few months ago with Pulsie. Having problems driving it so was back to sharing vehicles with my parents for almost 2 months I believe. We changed the computer and a few other parts but that didn't help. It ended up that a ground was loose so we bought parts for no reason. Least we didn't spend too much and Pulsie has been running great ever since. It's mileage is great on the highway which has definitely helped with my driving to the airport and back five days a week for four months. My plans for Pulsie with summer didn't really work out, work takes a lot out of you, more than I expected.

It's December now and the car's still running fine. Changed oil over a month ago and still haven't had to add more oil yet. Pulsie still smokes a lot but Dad bought some special stuff to help. Sadly, he bought it a week after I changed my oil so I have to wait till next change to use the stuff. No new dents or anything except for the driver-side mirror has some yellow paint from when I got to close to the paybox thing leaving the airport parking lot on day.
