Personal Training

Personal training is one-on-one instruction that incorporates goal setting, fitness and health education into challenging workouts developed specifically for each individual's needs.  Personal training programs are for those individuals who want to be active and fit, sculpt or tone their physique, or lose excess body fat, but would prefer the more personal one-on-one attention. All Alter Ego Fitness Experience Personal Trainers are fully qualified and BCRPA certified.

Alter Ego Fitness - Personal Training - BoxingA Personal Trainer will do an assessment of your current level of fitness and body composition (including girth measurements, body fat and BMI testing), review your goals, and then create an individually tailored program to help you achieve those goals safely and effectively.  Your Personal Trainer will be there to provide instruction and assist you to perform various exercises.  They will manage you and your program, monitor your technique and motivate you to give 100% in every workout.  They will provide a personal touch to a totally safe and supportive training environment for you.

Personal training can be provided on a one-to-one basis or as a Small Group Personal Training option (2 - 4 friends with one Trainer), on a twice-weekly, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis, or as often as you require.  Please click here to contact for more information.


Group Fitness Classes

If you like outdoor activities, dislike going to the gym, or simply need/want something new and different to rejuvenate your fitness routine, then we have the program for you!

We offer a realistic program of exercise aimed at achieving individual physical fitness goals, cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, permanent control of excess body fat and personal appearance.

Our outdoor fitness classes are perfect for those who want the benefits of almost having a personal trainer but at the shared cost of training in a group.  These classes are 1.5 hours in duration and can be done 2 or 3 times per week.Alter Ego Fitness - Group Training Session With Equipment at Mt. Included in the fee for these classes are:

  • Initial registration and nutrition seminar (this does not take up class time):
  • A Comprehensive Body Assessment (see Schedules/Fees);
  • 6 weeks of progressively invigorating and fun workouts;
  • Weekly motivational emails; and,
  • Ongoing email and phone support.

As well, you will be given a Training Manual that contains your class schedule, directions to locations, an introduction to our Trainers, a nutrition component complete with numerous healthy recipe suggestions and an introduction to our Partners In Wellness.

We ensure that classes are kept smaller and will have sufficient Trainers at each class to keep a client-to-trainer ratio of no more than 8-to-1. These classes are conducted in various local parks and locations. To assist clients in effectively planning the time required to travel to their classes, during a Training Session, we ensure that the locations used are within 10 minutes of each other.

All classes begin slowly, to ensure you are properly warmed up prior to exertion, and end with stretching to help prevent sports related injuries. If you REALLY want to see results, all you have to do is follow the suggested nutrition regimen (remember - it's a lifestyle change, not a diet!) and get to each class. We'll provide the motivation, inspiration and FUN!

Every class is specially designed to rev up your metabolism, maximize your fitness potential and boost your energy. We supply all the equipment, but please remember to bring a towel, drinking water and a well-rested body. And, remember to dress in layers because we play outside! Specialty Classes

Our Specialty Classes do not include a nutrition component or the provision of a Training Manual (as detailed in the information for our Group Fitness Classes above). If you would like to add these to your program, this can be arranged for an additional fee. We ensure that the Specialty Classes are also kept smaller and we'll have sufficient Trainers at each class to keep a client-to-trainer ratio of no more than 8-to-1. An exception to this is the Kettlebell Classes, which are currently restricted to 5 participants. Please click here to contact for more information.

BODY BLITZ

As the name implies, these classes are designed to "blitz" your body with exercises that will increase your muscle endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular capacity! Every class is specially designed to rev up your metabolism, maximize your fitness potential and boost your energy. These classes are perfect for someone wanting to trim some excess inches or those who want/need someone to provide the extra motivation to exercise. Classes are 1 hour in duration, can be done 2 or 3 times a week and the Training Sessions are 4 weeks in duration. Locations are similar to those used in our Group Fitness Classes. KETTLEBELLS

At present, our Kettlebell classes are restricted to a maximum of 5 participants. Classes are 1 hour in duration, can be done 2 or 3 times per week and the Training Sessions for these classes are 4 weeks in duration.

Alter Ego Fitness - Kettlebells On The BeachFor those that don't already know, a kettlebell is a weight that looks somewhat like a cannonball with a handle attached. In addition to giving you incredible muscle endurance, when combined with a proper nutrition plan, a kettlebell workout will rapidly melt any excess fat that you may have! Kettlebell training involves compound exercises, that work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, and seeks to integrate your breathing, movement and alignment along with your ability to control and balance the weight. you are not isolating parts of the body the way you do with traditional weight-training workouts. Unlike traditional dumbbells, the kettlebell's center of mass is extended beyond the hand. This allows for swing movement not possible with traditional dumbbells and, because more muscle groups are utilized in the swinging and movement of a kettlebell (than during the lifting of dumbbells), a kettlebell workout is said to be more effective, and can yield better results in less time! SPECIAL OCCASION / VACATION

Do you have a special occasion (vacation, wedding, family reunion, etc.) for which you'd like to improve your fitness or body shape? Or, perhaps, you're one of the lucky people vacationing in Victoria with a group that wants to shake up their fitness routine in a new location. Dependent on the time you have available to commit, these classes can be 1 - 1.5 hours in duration and may be done 1 - 5 times per week. FRIENDS / OFFICE GROUP

Do you have a group of friends or co-workers that are interested in getting fit together? We can create your very own "fitness squad". These classes are 1-hour in duration and can be done 2 or 3 three times a week. The Training Sessions for these classes are 6 weeks in duration and, to initiate one of these groups, we request that you have a minimum of 5 participants. Locations can vary, we can come to you. PROGRESSIVE RUN COACHING

Do you have a specific race/run that you're aiming to complete? Perhaps there's a 5K, 10K, half or full marathon in your future for which you want assistance with your training and preparation to ensure that you complete the run healthy and injury free. We can put together a personal, and progressive, training program that will address your concerns and assist you in achieving your goals.
