Beyoncé, Jay-Z Release Photos of Blue Ivy

Born last month, the little one – who has a full head of dark hair – is shown on her own and also being cradled by each of her famous parents, who are clearly beaming with joy.

A handwritten note posted to HelloBlueIvyCarter reads, "We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives." The note is signed "The Carter Family." (Jay-Z's real name is Shawn Carter.)

Just this week Beyoncé, 30, made her first post-baby appearance to celebrate husband Jay-Z's double concert dates at Carnegie Hall.

Beyoncé's Manicurist: She Painted Her Nails Blue for Blue Ivy

“You see the blue nails. You see the IV tattoo on her finger. It’s clear that she was bringing Blue along with her because she doesn’t want to be away from her for a second,” Beyoncé’s longtime manicurist, Lisa Logan, tells PEOPLE of her Monday manicure.

Logan, who painted the singer’s fingernails with Nails Inc.’s new “Baker Street” polish (the star accented the look with a two-finger ring by Bing Bang for WeSC), says the whole experience felt serendipitous. “I don’t roll with less than 200 bottles of polish on any given day,” she explains. “When I pulled all of my colors out, [Baker Street] and two other colors were sitting at the top of the pile, and [Beyoncé] said, ‘I want this!’ She didn’t even look or blink at the other colors. She was like, ‘Oh no, I want this,’” Logan recalls. “Ironically, when I came in, the first thing she asked me for was Minx. I always have Minx nails, [but] this was the one day I didn’t have them on me!”

So how is the newly manicured mom adjusting to motherhood? “Amazingly,” Logan says. “When I see her, I’m like, ‘Girl, you’re glowing.’ She’s so elated. Motherhood is written all over her face. She’s owning it and wearing it well.”

"She's doing great," a beaming Tina Knowles told PEOPLE at the Runway to Win fundraising reception for Barack Obama in New York. "She's beautiful."

As for her duties as a doting grandma, Knowles calls them "amazing," adding, "It's the second best job I've ever had."

Although her adoration for the new addition to her family was certainly instantaneous, Knowles is waiting to decide which parent little Blue resembles most.

"She's only a month old," she says. "So we have to give her a minute."

Tina wasn't the only Knowles out and about this week. Beyoncé stepped out two nights in a row to support husband Jay-Z, who performed a pair of shows at Carnegie Hall.

Beyonce 'X Factor' rumours denied

Fox’s recently minted competition series had a major shakeup last week, with judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paul Abdul — along with host Steve Jones — getting the heave-ho. And while the rumor mill swirled with scuttlebutt about Cowell offering ”Single Ladies” singer Knowles an astronomical sum to come aboard, the famously cantankerous Brit says it’s not happening.

“I have no idea where this rumour came from,” Cowell said in an interview with “Extra.” “I read it online that I offered her $100 million a year. It’s complete nonsense.”

Cowell also revealed that executives at Fox began talking to him about a shakeup “at the beginning of the year— and we were told it had to happen straight away.”

He also took responsibility for the perception that “X Factor” has been a lukewarm success, admitting that his declaration that the show would be bigger than his last gig, ”American Idol,” set the bar too high.

“It’s only because I opened my big mouth and said we were going to get 20 million viewers,” Cowell said. “If I hadn’t said that, everybody would be saying the show was a huge success.”

So, where was the superstar chanteuse headed this time?

Once again she was out in support of her man, attending the closing show of Jay-Z's two-night stand at Carnegie Hall, this time rocking strappy Gucci stilettos, a black suede Chanel purse and Lorraine Schwartz jewels for the occasion.

And lest we not forget her royal blue nails and massive blue rock, seemingly in honor of her daughter, born just a month ago.

Now the countdown's on for baby Blue's public debut. We can't wait.

How Did Beyoncé Honor Baby Blue Ivy at Her First Public Appearance Since Becoming a Mom?

So what did the radiant-in-red singer do to honor her new daughter?

Let's just say, she nailed it.

"Check out Beyonce blue nails called #Baker street by @Nailsinc I love this color!!!" tweeted celeb manicurist Lisa Logan, along with a close-up of the pop star's royal-blue manicure—which, of course, meshed perfectly with the giant blue rock on her index finger and the gold two-finger ring yoking her middle and ring fingers together.

And Beyoncé definitely appeared to be showing off her own natural nails—no sharp-edged acrylics when there's a new baby in the house!

Having avoided the spotlight since giving birth on Jan. 7, she skipped Jay-Z's benefit concert at Carnegie Hall last night but made it to the afterparty at her hubby's 40/40 Club.

Beyonce trademarking 'Blue Ivy'

The superstar couple lodged its petition at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 26, just weeks after becoming mum and dad to their first child.

The filing, submitted by Beyonce's company BGK Trademark Holdings, is currently pending but is expected to be approved, according to the Washington Post.

Authorities have already rejected two applications from firms who have attempted to cash in on the name, insisting it belongs to a "very famous infant".

Finally! Beyoncé Makes First Post-Baby Appearance in New York City

Bey-Bey made her first public appearance Monday night to celebrate hubby Jay-Z's two anticipated shows at Carnegie Hall to benefit United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.

The curvaceous beauty was all smiles and looked absolutely gorgeous in a red, long-sleeve Alice Temperly dress, which she accessorized with Ofira & Lorraine Schwartz jewels, an Alexander McQueen clutch and a pair of seriously fierce embroidered Christian Louboutin platform pumps.

Despite outlets reporting exclusive interviews, B has not made any appearances or given any interviews since her daughter Blue Ivy Carter was born. She did, however, make a personal statement on her blog after singer Etta James passed away.

But now that she's come out, maybe Beyoncé is ready to gush about her new little girl just like her BFF did?

'The X Factor': Could Beyonce be the next judge?

Word on the street that one of the ladies he's approached to fill one of the judges' seats is none other than new mom Beyonce, and he's offering a LOT of money if she says yes.

According to Media Takeout, an insider says that Cowell wants an extremely famous current artist on the judging panel. "He wants a big name female star on the panel. Mariah [Carey] is good, but she's not that hot today," the source says. "He wants Beyonce because that would immediately give him the bounce needed to beat 'American Idol.'"

If Beyonce says yes, she could make $500 million dollars. Yes, we said $500 MILLION. The offer is reportedly a five-year contract that would see her making $100 million a year.

So, what do you think? Beyonce would certainly draw viewers and give the judging panel a little more cachet, but will she really say yes? It's a big commitment, especially for a new mom at the height of her stardom.

RIP Don Cornelius: Five Mega-Stars Who Rode the Soul Train

The creator and longtime face of Soul Train may be gone, but he made a lasting impact on pop culture with his R&B-championing song-and-dance show and subsequent Soul Train Music Awards.

Over the show's 35 years on the air, some of the biggest names in music hit the stage that Cornelius built, from Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin to R. Kelly and T.I.. It's pretty much impossible to narrow it down, but here are five other acts who boarded the train early in their careers—and rode it right to superstardom:

(Video) 1. Mariah Carey: Does this young lady look familiar to you? A 21-year-old Mimi first appeared on Soul Train in 1991 to perform her career-altering hit, "Emotions," backup dancers getting funky alongside her. Do you remember the days when Carey dressed in head-to-toe black? Neither do we!

Beyonce subject of college course

Lecturer Kevin Allred has signed up to teach Politicising Beyonce as part of the school's Women's and Gender Studies curriculum.

The class offers New Jersey students the chance to watch the pop star's music videos and explore how the Single Ladies hitmaker's image and music has impacted the world.

An overview of the course on the university's website reads, "The performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender, and sexual politics... Course topics include the extent of Beyonce’s control over her own aesthetic, whether her often half-naked body is empowered or stereotypical, and her more racy performances as her alter ego, Sasha Fierce."

The course includes class discussions, which "often lead to other vocalists, including Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Lady Gaga, and contemporary musicians who embrace the soul singing tradition like Adele and the late Amy Winehouse."

Beyonce's husband is also the subject of his own higher education course - Georgetown University is currently offering students the chance to take the Sociology of Hip-Hop: Jay-Z.

Jay-Z, Beyonce make Billboard industry power list

Only a handful of artists broke onto the list that sought to name the recording industry's most influential people and was dominated by businessmen and women. The selection was determined by a combination of money, market share, Billboard chart data and other information, and a team of 15 magazine editors analyzed the results to produce the list.

Both Jay-Z and Beyonce made it due to numerous ventures outside their singing careers including Jay-Z's Roc Nation music, management and entertainment company and Beyonce's sponsorship deals with brands such as L'Oreal. Collectively, they were placed at No. 13 on the Power 100 list.

Azoff has been at the helm of Live Nation Entertainment, a ticket sales and concert company, since 2008 and previously represented artists such as Christina Aguilera and Van Halen.

Just behind Azoff at No. 2 was Coran Capshaw, the founder and partner of Red Light Management, who helps run the careers of groups such as the Dave Matthews Band. Rounding out the top three was Universal Music Group's chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge.

Others on the list included Creative Artists Agency's managing partner and head of music Rob Light at No. 7 and Interscope Geffen A&M Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine at No. 10.

Rock band U2 came in at No. 27 along with their manager Paul McGuinness based on their ability to sell more than 7 million tickets to their last tour along with their prolific chart career. Fellow rocker Jon Bon Jovi clocked in at No. 50.

Country music star Taylor Swift, 22, made the list at No. 78 for being a "branding powerhouse" with her own management company and lucrative contracts with companies such as CoverGirl. Pop sensation Lady Gaga followed Swift at No. 84, picked for the sway she holds over millions of loyal followers on Facebook and Twitter.

The list held some surprises as "The X Factor" creator and television mogul Simon Cowell ranked last at No. 100, beaten by his former "American Idol" colleague, host Ryan Seacrest, who ranked No. 64.

Seacrest was placed higher due to his numerous ventures including his syndicated daily radio show, "American Idol" hosting gig, production company at NBC Universal and his newest venture to reshape HDNet as a pop culture TV network in collaboration with billionaire Mark Cuban, Creative Artists Agency and live entertainment company, AEG.

Reports surfaced earlier this week that that the OWN mogul was the godmother of Beyoncé and Jay-Z's baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter.

So will little Blue be on the receiving end of ponies, cars and islands?

"Let me just say, if [this] is true, it is news to her," King said Friday morning on CBS This Morning. "You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born."

A separate source close to the power couple's camp also tells E! News that this is not true.

No need to worry, though. Winfrey is pals with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, so Blue should still get first dibs on Winfrey's annual Favorite Things list.

And who knows? Blue already made her debut on the Billboard charts—she'll be ready for her own talk show in no time.

Beyonce and Jay-Z choose Oprah Winfrey as godmother: report

The music power couple chose Winfrey for the role because they did not want to select a blood relative, a source told the gossip website Media Take Out.

Jay-Z's best friend and road manager, Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith, was asked to be the child's godfather, the gossip site reported.

The cable network CEO has been a close friend to the pair and reportedly sent baby Blue a trunk full of books after her birth.

Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z, 42, welcomed their first child in New York on January 7th.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have reportedly chosen talk show queen Oprah Winfrey as the godmother for their new daughter, Blue Ivy, according to a new report.

Jay-Z released a hit track "Glory" to celebrate the arrival of their firstborn, in which he revealed that Beyonce had previously suffered a miscarriage.

"Last time the miscarriage was so tragic. We was afraid you'd disappear, but nah, baby, you magic (voila)," he rapped in the single, that debuted at number 74 on Billboard's chart of the top 100 R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

The couple married in April 2008.

"She's absolutely beautiful!" Rowland gushed to us at last night's Hpnotiq Harmonie and Live Louder 2012 Kickoff cocktail party at the W hotel in Hollywood. "And I say that with such a huge grin! I'm so excited."

Rowland debunked reports that she and Destiny's Child pal Michelle Williams serenaded little Blue when the two recently met the 2-week-old. "We all just stared at her," she smiled. "I just stared at her. She is so beautiful."

The singer stayed mum on what kind of baby gifts she got the little one. "That's between me and Blue," she said. "But you best believe her auntie will have her dressed to impress."

And yes, Rowland agrees that baby Blue will have some serious skills when it comes to singing. "She was on her dad's record ["Glory"]," she laughed. "Her first feature is like two days old! So yeah, she's musical." (Video)

Beyoncé, Pink Pay Tribute to Etta James

"This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time," Beyoncé, who played James in the movie Cadillac Records, posted in a message on her website. "I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime."

Speaking of her role in the 2008 film, the new mom adds, "Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter."

In a final tip of the hat, Beyoncé says, "She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed."

Also adding to the chorus of praise for the greatly admired singer: Pink. On her Twitter page, the pop star wrote: "RIP to the late and great Etta James. Your voice and your fight inspired me and many. I love that through recordings, people can live forever."

Jessica Alba: Beyoncé should sell first photos of Blue Ivy Carter

Alba tells CNN's A.J. Hammer that her decision, made with husband Cash Warren, to sell the first photos of daughter Honor Marie Warren in 2008 was the right move. Alba reportedly received $1.5 million form OK! magazine for the deal.

"For our family, we just wanted to control the experience," Alba explained. "We put the money that the picture made into a bank account for Honor to do whatever she wants to do with. It's her picture, it's her birth, and we didn't want it to be like a weird thing when we were walking out of the house for the first time."

Alba says that selling the first picture cut down on paparazzi feverishly trying to snap pics of the newborn.

"If there's a price tag on your child -- which is so bizarre -- people will go to crazy lengths," said Alba. "We wanted to avoid that hysteria."

Alba also reveals that shooting the images for OK! magazine was a great experience.

"We were friends with the photographer. It was just a nice day in the house. We'll have those beautiful pictures forever," Alba said. "You can give the money to charity and to your baby and that's it."

But Alba isn't trying to force the decision on Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

"To each his own," she said. "The biggest thing is having a healthy baby ... I'm sure Beyoncé will make the best decision for her family."

Alba has recently launched a line of eco-friendly household products, called The Honest Company, inspired by wanting to use the safest products around her two daughters.

Beyoncé's First Post-Baby Blue Ivy Interview for Real?

Star U.K. is reporting that they got an exclusive interview with Beyoncé, who allegedly told them, "Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can't be found."

Or did she?

Let's just say Blue Ivy's baby photos aren't the only fabrications floating around the Internet.

Although we don't discredit that Beyoncé would feel such strong and intimate feelings for her newborn daughter, she's definitely not sharing them with Star. Or anybody else for that matter.

Her rep confirms to E! News that "Beyoncé has not done any interviews. This is fake."

She's probably too busy admiring her baby's beautiful face while listening to her heavenly voice on daddy's latest track "Glory."

Beyonce defends hospital security

The superstar singer and her husband Jay-Z welcomed their first child, daughter Blue Ivy, at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on January 7.

However, other parents at the maternity unit claimed their bodyguards caused problems by refusing access to other patients and their families.

Beyonce has now spoken about the drama for the first time, insisting she was just trying to make sure her baby was kept safe.

According to Britain's Star magazine, she says, "Everybody who we wanted to see her, saw her. Security was very tight, but not just for the sake of it, it was for the security of our daughter."

The R&B star goes on to insist her new baby will have a normal childhood, despite being born into such a famous family.

She adds, "At home, she'll be part of a normal, loving family with a loving mum, a loving dad, a loving aunt and loving grandparents, just like any other kid."

Beyoncé Is Already a Wonderful Mom, Destiny's Child Pals Say

"She's doing fabulous," Michelle Williams told PEOPLE on the red carpet at the taping of the 2012 BET Honors in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

"She was born to be a mother," Kelly Rowland added at the show, which will air Feb. 13. She's wonderful."

According to Williams, Beyoncé has what it takes to be a great mother to baby Blue. "She has such compassion for people and humanity, period," she said.

Still, Williams admits that the ladies of Destiny's Child never thought their frontwoman would be the first to become a mom.

"We were very shocked. We were laughing with each other the other day and she was like, 'Can y'all believe it? I was the anti – like no children for me,' and she's the first one [of us to have a baby]," Williams said. "So it was so amazing to see her."

Williams, who already spent time with "the bundle of joy," says Beyoncé and Jay-Z's little chart topper just might be the most stylish baby on the scene.

After all, she has Kelly and Michelle looking after her!

Beyonce gets fly with golden booty named after her

Previously published results from Bryan Lessard, a 24-year-old researcher at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, were recently announced on the species that had been sitting in a fly collection since it was captured in 1981 — the same year pop diva Beyonce was born.

He says he wanted to pay respect to the insect's beauty by naming it Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae.

Lessard said Beyonce would be "in the nature history books forever" and that the fly now bearing her name is "pretty bootylicious" with its golden backside.

"Bootylicious" was the title of a song by Beyonce's previous group, Destiny's Child.

It's unknown if the rare species is a bloodsucker like many female horse flies. Lessard says he was unable to find any live specimens when he went looking in 2010 in northeast Queensland's Atherton Tablelands, where it was captured three decades ago. However, at least one member of the public has alerted him that he was recently bitten by what's locally called the "gold bum fly."

The description of the fly was earlier published in the Australian Journal of Entomology, but the results were announced last week.

Lessard says he hasn't heard from Beyonce, who recently gave birth to her first child, but he is a fan and hopes she will take his scientific gesture as a compliment. He also said the name was picked to help draw attention to the importance of his field and the need for more researchers to catalog and study insects.

Horse flies are "vital pollinators of native plants, not just in Australia, but all over the world," Lessard said. "It's extremely important to name all the undescribed species so we can measure our human impact on the environment and hopefully protect it for future generations to enjoy."

Beyoncé's Baby Blue Ivy: Celebs Suggest Some Special Gifts

But that doesn't mean she won't be getting gifts...

We polled stars at yesterday's 2012 People's Choice Awards to see what your favorite Hollywood celebs would get baby Blue and her famous parents.

For Kathy Griffin, it would have started in the delivery room.

"I would buy her an entire hospital," she cracked. "I'm sorry, but the way Jay-Z only bought one floor of a hospital? Not on my watch! She gets the entire hospital and some ambulances as well."

On a more practical note, she added, "I would buy Beyoncé probably like a Swarovski Baby Bjorn or Louis Vuitton Baby Bjorn. It's gotta be over the top."

"I'd buy her a little Chanel jumpsuit," Chloe Moretz said.

Lucy Hale says she'd hop the pond to British clothing brand All Saints for some baby gear. "I want to buy someone the baby leather jacket," she said. "It's unbelievable. It's so cute."

"That would be a very daunting task," smiled Once Upon a Time's Jennifer Morrison. "Maybe like a little tiny tap shoes. I mean that baby is going to be dancing in three months."

"Something blue, like a cute little blue pacifier or cute little blue gloves," said DWTS pro Cheryl Burke. "Definitely something blue. I like to keep it simple."
