Club Fees

The cost to join the club is $40 for the year. Classes run from October until the end of May. Fees go toward paying for the facilities, club equipment, administrative supplies & other related costs.

 

Other Related Costs

Kendo is equipment dependant and as such can be expensive. All a beginner needs is clothing suitable for athletic activity (no shorts). The club has shinai (bamboo sword) that you can borrow.

By the end of your first trimester you are expected to buy a shinai $30-35 - we usually arrange a group order at this stage so you can save considerably on shipping costs.

Depending on the individual you will then be required to buy a uniform (keikogi & hakama) by the end of either your 2nd of 3rd trimester. This usually costs approximately $150.

Eventually you will also need bogu (armour). Costs very considerably in this area however at this level a satisfactory set costs around $550.
