I would like to thank Calgarian's for all their support, emails, phone calls and votes of confidence. The inspiration I received was overwhelming such that I still intend to do everything I can to stop the City from spending our tax dollars on cleaning up the Imperial Oil Refinery site. That is clearly an Imperial Oil responsibility, not something the citizens of Calgary should be burdened with.
My first initiative in that regard will be working towards having Mr. David Day, The Director of Utilities & Environmental Protection Manager for the City of Calgary, removed from office for verbally threatening a senior citizen during a community meeting in September regarding the refinery cleanup.
While voter turnout improved over last election, the improvement was minimal and the turnout number remains dismal in comparison to the number of eligible voters. Change requires people to speak out by voting. Those that exercised their right and responsibility to vote might consider reminding those that remained complacent to mutter no complaints about the city leadership team for the next 3 years. At next election, they might then actually vote and make their voice be heard loud and clear.
Other than that, I intend to relax and enjoy my retirement with my family, friends, grandson and our mini pin puppy; Gordie. Thank-you again for your support. My email account will remain open should you wish to share a viewpoint.
