Sunshine       and         Shadows

Shadows have fallen on our Chapter. Our beloved Brother Frank Merx passed away on April 30 after having cardiac surgery. Frank was a Charter Initiate being initiated on Sept. 25, 1999 when Alberni Chapter was Instituted. He was a dedicated member who became Worthy Patron with Sister Deb Dryden Knoll as his Worthy Matron. He was just installed as Associate Patron and was looking forward to serving again with Sister Deb. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Sister Kathy Merx, son Glen and family, and daughter, our own Sister Tanya Merx . Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14th at 1:30 PM at the Chapel of Memories.

On a happier note, Sister Isobel Parker had a very successful showing of her fabric art at a show in Washington State. Congratulations !!

Our Luncheon and Bazaar on May 5th was another success although the number attending was down considerably over last year due to a multitude of other events in town. Thanks to Sister Deb Dryden Knoll who convened the bazaar and to all who worked or contributed in any way.

Grand Chapter is fast approaching and several of our members will be attending and taking part. It should be a very happy time since this will be the culmination of the 100th year celebrations. We will look forward to the reports.

If anyone has any news of any of our members ( or friends in other Chapters) , please contact Sister Carol Terry either by phone at 250-730-2332 or e-mail at bcterry@shaw.ca so the information can be passed on. Don't forget to watch this page for updates.
